Management of muscovy ducks
Management of muscovy ducks is divided into 3 stages: -
- Induction phase- 1 to 2 weeks.
- Age phase - 3 to 4 weeks.
- Growth phase - 5 to 13 weeks.
The period of feeding the baby ducks from first day to two weeks is very important and requires proper care. On the first day of arrival the ducks are counted, weighed, and kept in the siege. The temperature in the cage is 35 degrees Celsius required for the first week and is reduced daily to 27-30 degrees Celsius. Drinking water mixed with vitamins is given immediately. After the ducks drink and move around they are given an early meal. Drinking pods should be lined with trays to reduce congestion and dampness. Drinking pods are placed alternately with pockets of food around the enclosure.
The appropriate temperature and humidity conditions can be observed by observing the behavior of ducks in the enclosure. If the temperature is too cold the ducks will gather and they will be in one place. If it is too hot the ducks will disperse and they will breathe and their flaps open. Heat must be supplied in the morning and at night or during the rainy season. The blinds begin to gradually disappear after 2 weeks. Stages 3 to 4 weeks, the blinds are completely rolled except for heavy rains. The siding and heater are removed. Food trays are converted to long pots. Large pellet-shaped foods are gradually mixed and subsequently consumed. The beverage pots are converted to automatic pots as this stage of the duck starts to drink a lot.
Growing up to 5 to 13 weeks, the food and beverages should be sufficient at this stage as the ducks start to grow faster and food intake increases. In order to provide ample and always sufficient food, the food begins to be packed into container-shaped containers. During the day and in the hot weather, the barn door is opened to allow the ducks to enter the front porch.
The starter crumble should contain 19 - 22% CP. While the finisher pellet contains 16 - 18% CP. Beginning food is for ducling up to 3 weeks old and adult food is for 4 weeks until sale. Commercial products are available in the market.
